So a recent comment on one of my Deviations prompted me to put this up. It's a small cosplay questionnaire that ~Impure-Impulse made up and I figured I'd fill it out too to answer some of the questions I get asked fairly often.

1) When did you start cosplaying?
About five years ago. Fanime 2004 was my first con ever.


2) What did you cosplay first? How was it?
LOL we don't talk about this, but I was the stereotypical Narutard back then. I did a fanmade female Sasuke. It was bad. ;x


3) Anything you regret doing?
Most of my Naruto cosplay lolz. Minus some of my Akatsuki cosplays, those came out alright. But my Sasuke cosplays were kind of bad, to be perfectly honest.


4) Do you commission your costumes, or make them yourself?
Depends on the costume. The only fully commissioned costume I ever bought was Phoenix's blue suit, though we did the wig styling ourselves. Akira, Klavier, and Haruhi (Ouran) were all entirely put together from modified thrift store items and bought things. Some pieces of other costumes (shoes, ties, dress shirts, Derek's pants, the base I used for Peony's shirt) were bought, but the rest of those costumes were made. Peony's pants, Apollo's vest and pants, and Japan's uniform were all entirely sewn from scratch. Most of my prop work is ~Impure-Impulse's work. She likes making things, I like sewing them.


5) Where did you learn to sew?
I was given very basic lessons a few years ago because I had absolutely NO idea how to sew something before then. I made a few pillows and then dropped out of the class due to time restraints, and since then I've been entirely self-taught. It's tough work, but the more I do it, the better I get. While I was in the class a friend of one of the teachers had an ancient Singer machine she didn't want anymore, and since I was the only one in the class without their own machine, it was given to me as a present and I've used it since. It's old, but still in good shape, and works really well. (There's a pic of one here.)


6) Who does your wigs? What do you use? How many do you have?
Most of my wig styling is ~Impure-Impulse's work, with some help from me where I can provide it. The exceptions to this are Japan/Kiku and Akira, and Peony's bangs. Honestly, I'm terrible with wigs unless it's a simple style, but I'm learning.

My wigs are a combination of things from Amphigory (Apollo and Phoenix), Cosworx (Japan, Akira, and Peony), and Cosplaywig on eBay (Derek and soon to be Bridget). I would love to own a Cyperous wig someday, but they're so expensive. ;;;

At the moment I have 10 wigs at disposal, soon to be 11 once I finish Maya? Haha.


7) What's your favorite costume?
Lol Apollo. >_> I kind of never get tired of wearing that one, although I need to fix up/redo his wig soon.


8) So how many cosplays have you actually done?

Lol. Well, some of them used the same pieces (like all the Akatsuki cosplays) but hm. I haven't done nearly as many as ~Impure-Impulse, but I'm working on it.
